First ASW Shallow Water Craft 'INS Arnala' Delivered
What Happened
The Indian Navy received INS Arnala, the first of eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts (ASW SWC) built by GRSE in collaboration with L&T. Launched in May 2025, these vessels feature over 80% indigenous content and are designed to replace the ageing Abhay-class corvettes.
Why It Matters
It strengthens India's coastal surveillance and underwater combat capabilities while advancing 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' in the critical defence manufacturing sector.
