INS Anjadip Commissioned into Indian Navy
What Happened
The Indian Navy commissioned INS Anjadip, an indigenously built Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC), at the Eastern Naval Command in Chennai on February 27, 2026. Constructed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), the vessel is equipped with advanced sonar and torpedoes to track and neutralize sub-surface threats.
Why It Matters
It strengthens India's indigenization (Aatmanirbharta) in defense and enhances layered coastal security by providing specialized capabilities to hunt submarines in shallow waters.
