Mining and Quarrying: BEFORE, areas near the sanctuary boundary were highly vulnerable to unregulated commercial stone quarrying and mining. NOW, all commercial mining and stone crushing units are strictly prohibited within the 243 sq km ESZ.

Industrial Development: BEFORE, polluting industries could encroach close to the sanctuary limits, degrading the Aravalli ecology and disrupting wildlife. NOW, the establishment of new polluting industries and the expansion of existing ones are completely banned.
