In December 2024, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) announced the discovery of a Neolithic burial site at Newa village in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. The excavation revealed 11 pits containing human skeletal remains treated with red ochre, alongside potsherds and stone slabs.
