[Krishi Sakhi Convergence Programme]

The Krishi Sakhi Convergence Programme (KSCP) is a government-backed scheme and joint initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare and the Ministry of Rural Development. It was formally launched through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on August 30, 2023. The programme was created to enhance the skills and contributions of rural women in agriculture, addressing the need for proficient para-extension workers and providing economic self-sufficiency.

The KSCP works by selecting rural women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and training them to become Krishi Sakhis. These women, who are often experienced farmers, undergo comprehensive training for 56 days. The training modules cover various aspects, including agro-ecological practices, soil health and conservation, integrated farming systems, and livestock management. Upon completing the course and passing a proficiency test, they are certified as Para-extension Workers. In this role, they serve as community agricultural advisors, conducting weekly meetings with Farmer Interest Groups (FIGs) and earning a resource fee of INR 4,500 per month.

The KSCP is a key component and extension of the broader 'Lakhpati Didi' programme, which aims to create three crore women earning at least ₹1 lakh per annum. It is implemented in coordination with agencies like the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE). Recently, the Krishi Sakhis have been undergoing refresher training with a special focus on Natural Farming and Soil Health Cards. The programme was highlighted when the Prime Minister granted certificates to over 30,000 women from SHGs.
