[SRM University-A.P.]

SRM University-A.P. (SRMAP) is a state private university located near Neerukonda village in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, in the area of the planned capital city, Amaravati. It is a multidisciplinary, research-oriented institution established by the SRM Trust.

The university was established in 2017 through the Andhra Pradesh Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) Act, 2016. The creation of such private universities was part of a state government initiative to develop a world-class education ecosystem in Amaravati after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, which resulted in the "loss" of several reputed educational institutions to Telangana. The mechanism for its establishment involved a two-cycle process: an 'Application Cycle' submitted by the sponsoring body (SRM Trust) and an 'Approval Cycle' where the government added the university's name to Schedule I of the Act upon compliance with terms and conditions.

SRMAP offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programmes through three main schools: the School of Engineering and Sciences (SEAS), the Easwari School of Liberal Arts (ESLA), and the Paari School of Business (PSB). The university connects to global institutions through collaborations, such as its partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for curriculum design using MITx courses and a collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University to establish an AI institute. A significant recent development is the announcement of India's first open-access quantum computer and a Quantum Reference Facility on its campus, aligning with the National Quantum Mission and the state's "Amaravati Quantum Valley" (AQV) project. The Easwari School of Liberal Arts was renamed in 2023, and the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences was renamed to the School of Engineering and Sciences after its launch in 2017.
