Viksit Bharat 2047 is a vision and a long-term national mission of the Government of India to transform the country into a developed nation by the year 2047. The concept, which translates to 'Developed India,' was created to coincide with the 100th anniversary of India's independence. The origin of the idea is linked to the analysis of India's demographic dividend, which is projected to peak around 2047, presenting a critical window for transformation.
The mechanism for achieving this vision is structured around four core pillars: Yuva (Youth), Garib (Poor), Mahilayen (Women), and Annadata (Farmers). Key provisions include the economic objective of achieving a USD 30-40 trillion economy and elevating the per capita income to between USD 15,000 and USD 18,000 by 2047. Socially, the mission aims for zero poverty and universal access to high-quality education and healthcare.
This overarching vision connects to and integrates several existing national initiatives, including Make in India, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Digital India, and the PM Gati Shakti Master Plan. It also aligns with the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. While the core vision remains constant, recent Union Budgets, such as the Union Budget 2025-26, have introduced specific policy alignments like income tax reforms and enhanced support for MSMEs to drive progress toward the 2047 goal.
